Changes
I have unofficially "adopted" a 15 yr old boy.It is a long story but the short version is my boyfriend got guardianship of him. He is at that age where he is a total punk one minute and loveable kid the next. (and even when he's being a punk i love that kid like my own) He also gets extremely excited about that small things because he hasn't really had anybody that cares enough to do them in his life. He is getting "sneaky" too he sees things and i get a "well ya know if i was to get one of those i'd want it in this color" It's pretty cute when he looks at me all shy like and asks if i'll make him a scarf to match the hat i made him. Especially after the man-as i like to call him- said justin wouldn't want a hat when i originally offered. Psshh that boy loves the handmade stuff. Even made sure i knew he had slippers on his christmas list. So I now have another person to craft for and it looks like he is going to be keeping me busy at least for a while. Hopefully i will be getting some pics of him in his new hat and scarf that i can post here. Or at least the projects even if he isn't in them. Which is highly unlikely because he practically lives in that hat since i finished it, and the scarf is shorter than planned because i thought he was going to try to snag it right off the needles if i didn't finish it soon. Every time i saw him while i was working on it "is that my scarf? how long is it gonna be? is it done yet?" Between him and my little one life is going to get even crazier i think but that's ok i can deal with that---i think ;)

The beginning...
I made my first newsboy cap. I used the pattern for the Striped newsboy cap i found on ravelry. I decided to do it with Bernat Jacquards in jade and it turned out pretty cute if i say so myself. It was originally going to be for me, but my dear little man decided it was him. I must say it looks far cuter on him anyway :) I think he is just like uncle ben and this is the beginning of a hat obsession.

Crazy...
Life has been crazy busy it seems. Got a new pet- a little turtle and the cats think he if for them. So been busy with keeping them from eating him. Munchkin has been "crafty" and painted one of the cats the other day so now my poor kitty is shaved. Along with munchkin- and on that note i just finished knitting a pixi-esqe hat for the boy. Munchkin's b-day is only 5 days away and i think i found the perfect cake for him. Hopefully get that made on Wed. He'll love it(i hope). What little boy doesn't like fire engines? The wild little boy is with great gramma today so mommy has a nice quiet day before work today.

Small bits of summer goodness
Decided to do something semi functional and quick yesterday. Whiped up a bikini top mostly for wearing around the house(because i don't swim). I used the Queen of hearts and wonder woman bikinis pattern by catherine stinson. Being that i have already made the set once before it took me no time at all to just do the top (about 6 hours). It made a few small changes to account for the stretch of the 100% cotton yarn but it turned out fantastic ^_^

Needle Pouch Pattern
Well this is my first attempt at writting a pattern (and its a very loose one at that)
**In addition you will need a button for the closure
Using double pointed needles ( i generally use sz 4 or 5 to get tight stitches) Cast on even number of stitches(i generally used 9-18-9). Work in Stockinet stitch until it is the length of the needles you plan on putting in the pouch(yes you are just making a tube)- bind off half the stitches
Continue to work the remaining stitches in stockinet for 2-4 rows
Row1- K1 K2tog. k to last 3 k2tog k1
Row2- K1 P to last st. K1
Repeat. (depending on the number of stitches you use you may not be able to continue exactly this way just continue to decrease until you have 2 or 3 stitches remaining)
K the last 2 or 3 stitches together and crochet a tail- attach to make a loop. -OR- make i-cord with the last 2 or 3 stitches.
Sew bottom closed and sew botton on front.
I made them for my Double pointed needles for both storage and travel so i used fabric paint to put numbers on them. You could embroider them or make them as complex or simple as you'd like
